The monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Fire Mountain Canal and Reservoir Company was called to order by President Houseweart at 7:30 pm.  Directors present were Dixie Luke, John Stroh, Wes Spore and Dave Stiller.  Also present were Merritt Denison,  Paul Schmucker, and John Burgevin.

The minutes were approved as corrected (for Ela/Vandenberg fence motion and officer terms).

Wes S. motions the treasurer’s report be accepted, Dave S. seconds and motion carries.

Dixie L. motions the bills be paid, Wes S. seconds and the motion carries.

Transfers are okay.

Superintendent Report:

Merritt had a conversation with the Feldman’s of Pitkin Mesa regarding the ditch spoils on the ditch bank next to their property; the Feldman’s would like to clean up the ditch bank; the ditch bank is deeded easement land and the FMC board and Merritt do not want anybody messing with the ditch bank.  One option for the Feldman’s would be to cover the material.

New Business:

NFWCD wants a map of the FM Extension; Randy will contact Bureau of Reclamation or Wilmore Surveying.  Bob White of the NFWCD mentioned to Bill H. that the FM Extension should be cleaned in July or August.

Old Business:

The NFWCD agreed to partner with the FMC on the East Beckwith/Lost Lake Reservoir/Horse Ranch Park water decrees; FMC will answer the court objections in the amended filings.

Dixie L., Tom Alvey of the NFWCD, and Merritt are continuing to work on the water management plan.

Merritt would like to spend some effort on water user education, maybe the web site could help educate water users.  Education is a part of the water management plan that FMC is lacking

Job descriptions will be discussed at the March 2008 meeting.  Wes S. prepared a draft maintenance list.

John B. discusses that Webb Callicut, Delta County Weed Coordinator, has some funds to spray the Paonia Dam and ditch bank for yellow toadflax (only).  John B. will get Webb and John Pickering to spray at the appropriate time; the Delta County Conservation District will pay the bill.

Meeting adjourned at 9:15 pm.
