The monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Fire Mountain Canal and Reservoir Company was called to order by President Houseweart at 7:30 pm.† Directors present were Dixie Luke, Dave Stiller and Wes Spore.† Also present were Merritt Denison, and John Burgevin.


The minutes are corrected for discussion on joint RMWDA/FMC meeting, reservoir gate, and Fire Mountain Extension letter.


Wes S. motions the treasurerís report be accepted, Dave S. seconds and motion carries.


Dixie L. motions the bills be paid, Dave S. seconds and the motion carries.


Transfers are okay.


Superintendent Report:


We should have two to three more weeks of flood water.† Paonia Reservoir should spill Thursday night or Friday morning (6/11 or 6/12).† Merritt started to fill the reservoir two weeks ago; Merritt thought some silt was run out of the reservoir; Anthracite Creek is running good; Rogers Mesa is running at 140% of 1,400 shares per cfs.†


Merritt had Roop Excavating clean trash out of the headgate; Merritt is concerned about grass on the ditch bank; the grass will need to be cut.


Merritt is concerned about our current insurance company and would like the board to do an insurance review.† General discussion regarding general liability and directorís liability insurance; Randy will start the insurance review with John Blair.

New Business:


Merritt and Dixie L. are meeting with a BLM representative tomorrow (6/12) to look at the Coal Road Bridge.


General discussion on subdivisions and irrigation water.


General discussion on the budget and this yearís assessment, Randy passes out budget worksheet and board discusses the budget and ways to save mileage and fuel.† FMC could save some money if Paonia Reservoir gates were automated; also an automated measuring device/cell phone communication at Leroux Creek would be helpful for Merritt.


General discussion on working in an additional person to start to learn ditch operations.† General discussion of potential equipment purchases: truck, backhoe, radios, etc.


Belzona representative in Denver is sending Randy information on new products and installation contractors.
