The monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Fire Mountain Canal and Reservoir Company was called to order by President Houseweart at 7:30 pm.Directors present were Dave Stiller, and Wes Spore (John Stroh and Dixie Luke absent).Also present were Merritt Denison, Paul Schmucker, and John Burgevin.

 

The minutes were approved as read.

 

Wes S. motions the treasurerís report be accepted, Dave S. seconds and motion carries.

 

Dave S. motions the bills be paid, Wes S. seconds and the motion carries.

 

Transfers are approved.

 

Superintendentís Report:

 

Pulling 200af/day from reservoir; water should last through Labor Day; fire at Wolf Park mainly stopped at ditch bank.During very hot days we are losing six to seven cfs due to evaporation.

 

Old Business:

 

General discussion on Vandenberg Subdivision and specifically how Vandenberg plays loose with the facts; Merritt has spoken with the county commissioners about the situation so the commissioners know our stance.

 

New Business:

 

Bob Stechert and Rich Davis are the last water users on the fire mountain extension and have had difficulty receiving water.Bob would like the names and share numbers of the extension shareholders so he knows the split numbers.Also, Bob asked if the extension could have a ditch rider.Merritt said there is a problem with splitter box access and the ditch being so flat.General discussion on shrink and cleaning the ditch.Bob and Rich are concerned about drastic changes in water levels that they believe can only be explained by people messing with gate settings.Merritt will gladly assist Bob and Rich to see what is going on.Bill H. suggested that extension shareholders periodically get together and discuss problems.General discussion on the recurring problems on the fire mountain extension.

 

General discussion on purchasing parshall flumes and requesting reimbursement from the NFWCD.

 

Bill H. received a phone call from call from a Pitkin Mesa resident named Martinez regarding seep water leaking into his house at 39647 Pitkin Road.Paul mentions a Colorado statute that allows an earthen ditch a certain amount of seepage; also the canal (1901) predates the houses built below the ditch.Merritt will check this out and follow up with Bill H.

 

General discussion on the 2007/2008 budget, assessments, user fees, and transfer fees.

 

Wes S. motions to increase the transfer fee to $100/certificate, name changes only increase to $75/certificate, Dave S. seconds and the motion carries.

 

Wes S. motions to set 2007 assessment at $.80/share, with $.05/share going to savings, and the user fee at $35/user, Dave S. seconds and the motion carries.

 

Secretary Randy Fisher reported that FMC could receive the sedimentation grant money from the state and disburse the funds without a Tabor or IRS problem.Randy stated that this type of financial activity is within our mission and IRS 501c12 status.

 

General discussion on gathering at Lost Lake the last week of August.
